Grand Opening of THE BILLBOARD and the last chance to see the exhibitions RETHINK
KAKOTOPIA and CHILDREN OF CEAUSESCU

10th April 12.00 at Tensta Konsthall

April 10th marks the last chance to see our two current exhibitions. Simultaneously Tensta Konsthall is proud to present The Billboard a new site for the presentation of work and an annual contest for young artists, designers and architects, curated by Maria Gromova and project managed by Egil Donnér.

The Billboard is a wall space adjacent to the main entrance to the art centre. A public space where young creatives from 11 of Sweden’s leading art and design schools have been invited to submit their ideas. All  the submitted works needed to have a direct relationship with Tensta and the final selection was made by
Maria Gromova, Egil Donnér and Tensta Konsthall. The works include a social mapping of the local area, arranged photographs that create a fiction of the home and local Tensta resident Joakim Ojanen’s dramatic illustrations.

“I live in Hjulsta and go to Tensta almost every day. When one walks around the suburban architecture of Tensta there is little to look at or be inspired by. My work is therefore intensely coloured something that can add something to look at in the drabness.”

Joakim was born in 1985 in Västerås and now lives in Stockholm where he is a first year graphic design and illustration student at The University College of Arts and Crafts in Stockholm (Konstfack). He has had exhibitions at Gallery Hangups in Stockholm, 2008 and currently is showing the exhibition Phaces at the Gallery Nya Skolan in Gothenburg.
