Today's Recipe:
home alone and single :-/

Single and Home Alone but tired of eating salads, a sandwich, take home sub or soup. This recipe for "Bulgogi Style" ground beef might be the perfect go to meal when you're feeling kind of creative and got to have some kind of home cooked meal. It's better than a double quarter pounder with cheese. I have made this recipe many times and love it and when I'm not eating alone, company is always impressed. One pound of hamburger should feed you for a couple of days or makes great meal for you and your guest. This recipe comes in all sizes and complexities if you search the internet but I've kept this one as simple as it gets, ingredients are common grocery store items and it tastes great too!

I advise to make the Sauce first and set it aside so it has time to come together. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, stir well to dissolve brown sugar and wait. I'd give it 1/2 hour, stir it up again and taste. Caution, Sesame Oil is very strong, if you want to start with a little less than 1 tablespoon, that's fine, you can always add more to taste. Red Pepper Flakes, you can always add more but would be nearly impossible to subtract out later! Oyster Sauce is completely optional and it does add to the Umami flavor, so I would add this after letting sauce sit for while. If all is good, perfect, set it aside!

Next, prepping for the ground beef. I've used anything from 80% - 95% Ground Beef, the taste is almost the same but if you opt for higher fat content, you'll need to remove the excess oil. As far as Garlic goes, use at least 2 cloves but if you like garlic feel free to use more. I think the more Garlic you use, the more minced they should be. Only you know how much Cooking Oil your pan needs, measure out what you need. Pan should be at medium to medium high temp, add Garlic and fry up till you can smell it cooking (but don't let garlic go brown), add ground beef and make sure to break it up as it's cooking. You'll know when it's down, turn down heat, remove excess fat if you want. Here's an OPTION if you want to add a little bite and color. I add Matchstick/Julienned Carrots to the last few minutes if cooking ground beef. You can also simply cut carrots into rounds to make things easier. Once happy with ground beef and carrots, turn heat down to simmer. Stir your sauce mix one more time and the add to ground beef and carrots and stir. Simmer sauce for a few minutes and stir, when it looks well combined, turn off heat and you're done. Before serving you can throw a handful of sliced Green Onions and sprinkle with Sesame Seeds, this adds a little more interest and color. Optional, you can add any Veggies you like, just make sure to make a little more sauce.

Bulgogi Style Ground Beef with Fried EggPersonally, I like to serve my bowl with Jasmine Rice and top with a fried egg! Pickles, Pickled Daikon Radish and Raw Cucumbers go well with this dish. Made by Rick Santiago if you have any questions or comments message me theunartist@outlook.com
